HOST:
From Berlin this is Step One
A podcast about people striving to change the world, our world. We tell you the stories from the Bosch Alumni Network. A network of doers and thinkers connected around the globe, working toward positive change.
JULIAN:
“People here in Moldova, they’re happy and they’re not okay with the status quo, they are not okay with the leadership, with the political system, so they are in the state: Yes, we need change”
HOST:
And we do live in a time of change and it seems the decisions we make today are evermore important.
Whatever you think is to come, the world requires us to think and work in new ways.
Take the Step One team for example,
Jelena from Croatia
Yannic from Germany
both journalists working as freelance reporters
and Me, your host,
I am Benjamin Lorch
I’m an American who has returned to Germany, to live in Berlin.
In the coming months we will travel with you around the world to learn the stories of the Bosch Alumni Network, people who are taking action.
People who want to shape the future, taking their step one.
We will hear their voices and discover their dreams.
LILIANA
“I would want to see a day when Moldova would be known for tasty healthy food. Where people would be like: Oh, this apple is from Moldova. That’s a real tasty apple grown without chemicals.”
HOST:
This show is our step one too and we’re driven by curiosity and a hope that we’ll find connections in the stories and voices from different corners of the world.
PROFESSOR HARDERING
“Go to the places, go to the people, meet them and, yea, follow the energy”
HOST:
We’ll visit new families in the tiny but proud state of Moldova. We’ll search for the future of work and we’ll cover the elections in Bosnia.
and more…
The podcast is part of the Bosch Alumni Network, which consists of people who have been supported, in one way or another, by the Robert Bosch foundation. The network is coordinated by the International Alumni Center, a think & do tank for alumni communities with social impact. The iac Berlin supports this podcast. JULIAN
“I met a lot of people here that are ready to take responsibility for their society or for their community and also thinking in bigger scales. Also thinking: Yes, If I don’t open this business -- in this 3,5 million society, nobody will.”
HOST:
First steps can be scary and exciting. But they’re needed to navigate the complexity and connectedness we’re all feeling these days.
In the next couple of months, we’ll meet people with dreams, expectations and their own despair as they try to make this place a better one.
But where ever they’re going: These people are on to something new. On to their next step. Step One.
